Represented oil company in a case regarding the necessity of environmental assessments

Our team has successfully represented a Lithuanian oil exploration, prospecting and production company in an administrative case regarding the necessity of an environmental impact assessment procedure.

The applicants challenged the decision of the Environmental Protection Agency that allowed our client to carry out oil extraction activities and install an additional oil well, claiming that such activities require the implementation of a full environmental impact assessment procedure. However, Vilnius Regional Administrative Court supported our team’s arguments and dismissed the applicants’ complaint by clarifying that the procedure required by the applicants is not necessary.
